Midnight Breakfast

SU had its first ever midnight breakfast from 10:30-12AM this past Tuesday night. It was a great success with approximately 400 students coming by the dining hall to have pancakes and cereal, all served by some of the SU faculty/staff. The night was completed by a DJ and a lot of dancing. We hope to carry this tradition on each semester.

Checking Out

Posted by kpontano in : Uncategorized , add a comment

For more information, see the forms on the RD office door, speak to any RA/RD, or go to Avalon Community Center.

The basics: You must sign up on any RA in the building’s door 12 hours ahead of when you want to leave. At that time, the RA will bring all paperwork, check the room, and you will return your keys (room and post office) and your parking permit. Damages will be assessed later by the RD.

A new option this year is express check-out. Simply grab an envelope from Avalon and leave your keys and parking pass in there, seal it, and leave with a person at the Avalon front desk. This option is quick and does not require signing up ahead of time. Please note that damage appeals are waved when using this option.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday, our RAs will be in the lobby ready to check you out. This does NOT require a sign up time prior to checking out. You simply pack up everything and then go to the tables in the lobby and ask someone to check you out. RAs will be there 10-10 Thursday and Friday and 9-11 on Sat. Please note that everyone must be out by Saturday at NOON~

Thank you and have a happy and safe summer!!! I look forward to seeing you all next year and I hope that you enjoyed your time in Patapsco Hall.

Diet vs. Regular April 8, 2009

The RAs put on a program where they did a taste testing contests with teams, where each team had to guess which item was the diet version and which was the regular. One team swept the contest and got all of them right. The rest were challenged along the way. Some of the foods tested were oreos, yogurt, gum, milk, and whipped cream. The event was a fun and interesting way for residents to learn about eating healthier because often you cannot even tell the difference between a regular and fat free product.

There will be free shirts to tie dye, water balloon tosses, volleyball, slip ‘n slide and more!!! Some light refreshments will be served. The event starts at 7 PM.

This event was a great success. Over 150 students tie dyed shirts and have been seen wearing them all across campus. Also, students enjoyed the water events and stayed out mixing and mingling and having a great time!!! Thank you to Res Life and all the hall councils who helped out with this event!!!

See flyer

This event well went. We had to move it inside due to weather, but students were still able to sell some items and pick up some things they needed along the way. In addition, many of the items not sold were donated to GoodWill and the Our Daily Bread charities. Items included, bins, chairs, boxes, clothing, lights, knick knacks, purses, plants, and much much more! We hope to do this event each year to increase its participation and awareness for donations!!!

Hall Council’s PENNY WARS March 17, 2009

The 104 Hall Council is sponsoring Penny Wars, an event to raise money for a local charity. How it works: Located outside of the RD’s office are 4 bins (one for each floor of the building). Put pennies into your own floor’s bin to earn points, and place any silver coins into other floors’ bins to lose them points. The floor with the most points at the end of the one month period wins a pizza party and a charity donation on its behalf.

This event goes from 3/17/09 to 4/13/09 – The bins are located outside the RD’s office from 9-4:30 each day and then are taken in for security purposes.

The hall council members will tally the coins at the end of the event to determine the winner. Coins only – no bills please!

Each coin is worth its amount in points: A penny is one point and a nickel is five points, for ex.

See attached flyer for more details: flyer

We raised 39 dollars (mostly all pennies!!!) for the Baltimore Humane Society with this event. The 4th floor ended up victorious, but the hall council treated all residents to some ice pops on their way out to Splash Bash. The check was presented at an awareness event for the animals on campus.

Tasty Time Management

On Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 8PM the 104 RA staff will be hosting a time management session. Come and receive free homemade cupcakes!!! Event to be held in the lobby of Patapsco Hall.

Each student will leave with his/her own time management tips packet. Tell your friends!!!

This event had about 30 students attend. It was a great way for students to learn about time management while having a treat at the same time. Many of the residents commented that the packets were very helpful in making it easier for them to plan out their daily schedules. We hope these skills are ones that each resident can use when he/she is out and about next semester.

Welcome back for Spring 2009 Patapsco Hall!!! The first event will take place on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at 8 PM here in the 104 lobby. It will be a chance for you to meet up with your friends, meet our new residents, and just hang out. Food and beverages will be provided. Scholarship hours available. We hope to see you there!

This event was very popular. Our biggest problem was that we ran out of cupcakes too quickly!!!
